Hugh Grant, the soft-spoken, humorous, witty, and ever-chivalrous British gentleman can often be a bit sour and sardonic too. The Hollywood star, who rose to fame with films like Notting Hill, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Sense and Sensibility, and Love Actually has become somewhat known as the king of romcoms for his typecast filmography. And as warm a feeling as such an honorific title may give way to in the mass consciousness, the actor has not always performed so well when the lens was removed and the spotlight panned away from him.
Hugh Grant Gets Booted From Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show
Talk shows – one of the most-watched and rewatched sections of late-night television has kept the global audience company through decades of their evenings and the leisurely after-hours. And as entertaining as they may be, not everything always goes according to plan. Amid all the laid-back chats and while catching up on all the latest gossip, there occur disruptions either on-air or behind the scenes that often get the guests booted out of these shows or banned entirely.
During one such disruptive appearance on The Daily Show, Hugh Grant managed to not only appear offensive to the show’s crew with his off-putting mannerisms but angered the host so much that Stewart kicked him off his show. Later, the host would make the incident known to the public, during a fundraiser interview with Stephen Colbert: “He’s giving everyone sh*t the whole time, and he’s a big pain in the a**.”
Hugh Grant, on his part, approached the incident in a much humbler tone than his past encounter with Jon Stewart, and in 2012, tweeted out in response to his Daily Show ban.
The incident took place while he was out promoting his then-upcoming film, Did You Hear About the Morgans? As it turns out, his antics resulted in Hugh Grant never being invited back to the show again.

And amid all the dramatic wins and tearful callbacks was a pithy section of celebrity interviews that has racked up a storm online after it was aired – Hugh Grant’s interview with Ashley Graham. Since the short talk began making the rounds, debates started pouring in on whether Grant was being rude or if it was just an effective display of the standard dry humor the British are infamous for. The internet remains divided on the subject, and even though the mass consensus is to accept that as a fun bit on camera, those who are well acquainted with the King of Rom-Com’s antics off-camera seem more inclined to believe otherwise.
