Mission Impossible is arguably the most renowned spy franchise in the world, thanks to the spectacular action scenes by Tom Cruise. The spy series is mainly known for its action scenes, complex plot, and its iconic theme song. The series is coming to an end as Tom Cruise would play Ethan Hunt for the last time in Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 2. And with the end of the iconic series around the corner Henry Cavill is hoping that could return to the franchise as August Walker.
Recently, Henry Cavill appeared on a podcast, where he stated that would be interested in being part of the Mission Impossible franchise and reuniting with Tom Cruise director Christopher McQuarrie again. The Enola Holmes actor first appeared in Mission Impossible: Fallout, where the fans found the character intriguing and a great supporting character.
Henry Cavill Would Like to Return as August Walker in Mission Impossible Franchise
The Man of Steel actor was present at the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, where he talked about working with the Mission Impossible creatives and explained that they are not “stuck to one thing” which is quite important for the success of a franchise like this.
He added that one of the key aspects for the film to be a hit is that they should have a “framework” to work with and constantly revise the story to see how it turns out in the end.
“When you’re working with McQ, you realize that he’s not stuck to one thing, and that’s really, really important. I think it’s very important to have a framework to work from, but he is constantly evolving the story depending on how the scenes are turned out, what’s available, any new ideas that are coming in.”
Henry Cavill continued that he would like to return to the franchise because of the thrill and action. Also, Christopher McQuarrie forms an extraordinary duo with Tom Cruise, as they tend to give more creative suggestions to the films, which were very good.
“He and Tom [Cruise] as a duo are extraordinary because they are always coming up with creative ideas. They’ll have meetings about stuff and say, ‘What if this happened instead of that?’ and they’ll go, ‘Oh, that’s a really good idea, but that means you have to change all of this.’ And go ‘We love this. So let’s change all of that.’ It did become very much sides (new lines) the night before and sometimes the day of, which is becoming more and more usual.”
Even though August Walker died at the end of Mission Impossible: Fallout is it possible to see the character return to the franchise before it ends?
