Harry Styles is pretty famous as a singer. The Briton who shot to fame eleven years ago when he was put in One Direction on X-Factor, has become a global sensation with millions of followers worldwide. So when he made his debut as an actor in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, the majority was left surprised.
Having debuted in a Christopher Nolan film is nothing short of an honor. But the question remains as to why would Christopher Nolan cast the Marvel star in the first place. And the reason lies in his face.

The Reason Why Christopher Nolan Cast Harry Styles In Dunkirk
While Harry Styles has talked of pursuing acting before, the One Direction member made his debut in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. Set in the middle of World War II, the movie, as is with all of Nolan’s movies went on to earn multiple accolades. While Harry Styles was praised for his acting debut, many questioned why would the Oscar-winning director cast the One Direction heartthrob.
In an interview, the Oppenheimer director revealed the reason being his face
“He has an old-fashioned face … the kind of face that makes you believe he could have been alive in that period. Harry’s character’s very un-glamorous. It’s not a showboating role.”
While Nolan and the casting directors were looking for unknown faces, having seen Harry Style’s tape convinced them.
“Harry sent in a tape, and we liked the tape. And he joined the workshop, and that was that. It was a really old-fashioned process — and Harry’s features, ability, and demeanor fitted right in.”
Furthermore, the filmmaker added that Styles has a face that would make anyone believe that he was truly from the old times.
Christopher Nolan Would Love To Work With Harry Styles Again
Every actor’s dream is to work with Christopher Nolan. On the other hand for the Oscar-winning director, he would love to work with Harry Styles again. After having worked with him in Dunkirk, Nolan has been nothing but praises for the Sign of the Times singer.
After having cast him among thousands of actors, Nolan remarked,
“I auditioned literally thousands of young men with different combinations of young men. And he had it……. He’s very talented. I’ve no idea whether he wants to pursue acting, but he’s a natural.”
While Harry Styles described the Inception director as amazing, it would certainly be a treat to have them both collaborate again.
