Ben Affleck may not be best known for playing a Marvel hero, but one of his most iconic roles is that of Batman. In his range, there have been roles both good and bad. He has never limited himself to just one genre and that has helped him explore what best suits him and what doesn’t. This exploratory stance allowed him to play not just one superhero, but two.
Even with such a range, the opinions of other people always pop by. Some might like certain characters while others might not. The world is no short of superheroes who showcase some of the most unique abilities. One of the most legendary producers, Ilya Salkind has an opinion that sideline Affleck’s work in the superhero genre.
Ben Affleck’s Superhero Roles Disliked By Superman Producer
Ben Affleck has played both Daredevil and Batman. Although one out of the two was a massive disaster, he has both superheroes on his roster. The similarities that the two share are uncanny. Producer of both Christopher Reeve’s Superman stated that her opinion of these two heroes was contrastingly different from the rest of the world.
“Batman is a complex, f*cked up guy. Hellboy. Daredevil. I mean there hasn’t been one [since Superman]. He’s the guy. And he’s coming back right when we desperately need heroes again – a bit like when we opened with Reagan and stuff like that.”
According to her, the complexity that Batman and Daredevil have makes them much darker because of their past. Whether in comic books or movies, the persona of both these characters is a dark entrapment of their past. They are caged by it and it inspires them to protect the people around them. Even with their darker themes, Ilya Salkind prefers Superman a lot more.

Ilya Salkind Likes Superman More Than Batman
Ilya Salkind saw the reigns of Superman being passed down from Christopher Reeve to Brandon Routh. Superman Returns was a new vision for the hero but adapted aspects of Reeve’s movies. According to her, she liked the way Superman was formed and how he uses his powers and past to be a much lighter character than Batman. Although he is not as dark as the Caped Crusader, he is just as loved and has impacted the world just as much.
Her love for the character is extraordinary. The way she sees Superman is through the eyes of a producer and as a fan. Despite his hardships, Superman is a hero of the people. He is a symbol of hope and he can light up a room just by his smile. She prefers a character who stands with the light instead of hiding in the shadows.
