Greta Gerwig’s agent Jeremy Barber, recently dished The New Yorker she is not looking to be the best woman director in the industry but is hoping to become a big studio filmmaker after making a name for herself by directing many award-winning Indie projects.

“Greta and I have been very consciously constructing a career. Her ambition is to be not the biggest woman director but a big studio director. And Barbie was a piece of I.P. that was resonant to her,” Barber claimed.

Great Gerwig is stealing the spotlight! The director is making waves in Hollywood with her latest work which is yet to hit theaters. Nevertheless, last year on the At Your Service podcast, she revealed she was worried about writing a screenplay for her 2023 directorial Barbie. Talking about her experience working on the project Grewig shared,

“It was something that was exciting because it was terrifying. I think that was a big part of it, like: ‘Oh, no, Barbie,’” she continued, “It felt like vertigo, starting to write it, like: ‘Where do you even begin, and what would be the story?”

The California native actress added, “And I think it was that feeling I had was knowing that it would be really interesting terror. Usually, that’s where the best stuff is, where you’re like, ‘I am terrified of that.’ Anything where you’re like, ‘This could be a career-ender — then you’re like, ‘I should probably do it.’”
