The Witcher, ever since its premiere, has been declared among the best fantasy series. Its unique storyline, visual effects, and not to mention charming, alarming, and rugged lead Henry Cavill have had people swooning over the show, quite literally.
The fantasy epic, based on a 6-series of fantasy novels, has become among the most streamed shows on Netflix. However, with the disappointing news of the show’s lead, Henry Cavill departing for good after the third season, fans have been devasted. But in these devastating times, some exciting news has come forward.
Henry Cavill’s Parting Gift For The Witcher Fans
Those who have been a fan of the novel series by Andrzej Sapkowski and the video game have often remarked how the storyline in the first two seasons of the Netflix show deviates from the original storyline. Even the author expressed his dismay over the show’s creators twisting the original storyline and changing characters.
As a result, season two of The Witcher was less liked and less appreciated. With the third season to release soon, fans, naturally have their expectations set high. Their rising expectations have also been the result of Henry Cavill departing from the series, despite being regarded as the perfect human embodiment of Geralt of Rivia.
And now in these disappointing yet exciting times, good news has come forth from the sets of The Witcher. It has been made known that the third season will completely and faithfully adapt The Witcher‘s second book. Regarded as the easiest book to infer from, even more exciting is that Season 3 will heavily rely on practical effects. Almost 70% of it will be based on practical effects with only 30% on computer magic.
Furthermore, The Witcher: Season 3 promises to unleash a battle as majestic and magnificent as The Triwizard Tournament. And we certainly can’t wait to witness such a magical event, hoping that it would bid farewell to Henry Cavill in a manner befitting his magnanimous presence on the show.
The Reson Why Henry Cavill Is Bidding Adieu To The Witcher
Henry Cavill has always been vocal about his love for fantasy shows and games like The Witcher. And thus it shocked fans when Henry Cavill revealed that he would be bidding adieu to one of the most popular Netflix shows and his extremely popular role.
Back in October of last year, he had revealed,
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for season 4.”
This news sent a tsunami of shock and surprise among the show’s millions of viewers. While no exact reason has been revealed, Cavill’s departure might be linked to what he said back in 2019,
“I really enjoy playing these kind of games and reading these kinds of books in my spare time. I don’t consider it a job. For me it is more like an extraordinary opportunity to live my childhood and adult life fantasies.”
Some even anticipate that the overseas schedule and tiring production process might be his reason to leave the show. With Liam Hemsworth set to replace Henry Cavill, it would be interesting to see how fans react.
The Witcher Season 3 Volume 1 will premiere on June 29, and Volume 2 on July 27, on Netflix.
