Fans of Henry Cavill are aware of how much the actor pushes to make sure the characters he plays are close to the source material. The actor has made it public on multiple occasions that he is a huge fan of The Witcher games as well as the books. Even before he was cast as Geralt, he actively campaigned to be part of the series and has constantly pushed the creators to be faithful to the source material.

The actor has mentioned how he is a huge fan of the game Warhammer 40,000. He spoke about the miniature model game in an interview on The Graham Norton Show,

“You have to paint [the models], it’s all about how much effort you are willing to put into it. There is the painting-modelling side of the hobby and then there is the gaming side of the hobby.”

Cavill once revealed in The Rich Eisen Show that he almost missed a call from Zack Snyder while he was playing a video game. The actor mentioned that he was too engrossed in a game of World of Warcraft when he saw that Snyder was calling and picked it up at the last minute. Henry Cavill has often expressed his love for video games. He has spoken about his opinion on which is the better platform to play games on when asked if he prefers Xbox or Playstation (he said PC). He once posted a video on Instagram of him building a PC and showcased his nerdy side as he installed a chip and enjoyed the process. The video had fans go crazy.

The actor is a huge fan of the games World of Warcraft and Warhammer. He said that he has played the game six times with six different races. Speaking about his love for video games in an interview with The Straits Times, he said,

“I’ve always been a gamer. My dad introduced me to PC gaming when I was very young and I have memories of playing games with my brother at the dining table…I remember installing games on those large square floppy disks and it taking forever, and loving those as well. So it’s been a part of me for a long time.”

Like a true geek, Henry Cavill said that he would prefer to stay at home and play video games instead of going out and meeting people, which is unlike any other Hollywood actor. He spoke about it in an interview with GQ,

“Every time I step out my front door, I’m hyper-aware…Even if I’m not looking terrible, you still realize there are people taking sneaky photos of you, because that’s what people like to do. And then they put them on the internet and you see them on Instagram and you’re like, ‘Oh, my god. At home, I get to sit playing games for ridiculous amounts of hours and escape there, because going outside has the opposite effect.”

These instances just go to show how perfect Henry Cavill was as Geralt as well as Superman and how the studios behind the IPs have lost out on a gem of an actor who would have given it all for the roles.
