Crucial for fans, and for the first timers of the series, comics creator Mike Mignola, and his associate Chris Golden from Dark Horse comics wrote the script. One of the most cherished comic book series issues will be used to “expand Hellboy’s world through one of the most beloved issues of the comic series.” The comic book creator will closely be associated with the Reboot, as he will pen the script for the film.

Jeffrey Greenstein, Millennium Media’s president talked about the project in-depth.

“The Crooked Man is a departure from all previous Hellboy films where Mike Mignola and the creator of the comics will finally shepherd an authentic version of his stories and characters in film form. This is the first in the series of films that will captivate audiences in familiar (and new) ways. Brian Taylor is an expert across the board, and I couldn’t think of a better person to bring this story to life to show our audience this different and original Hellboy slate of films.”

According to the comic, The Crooked Man was Jeremiah Witkins, a miser and war profiteer from the eighteenth century who was condemned for his misdeeds but afterward emerged from Hell as the local Devil.

In 2018 Millennium bought the rights to Hellboy but their venture did not give successful returns. The 2019 Hellboy starring David Harbour flopped at the Box-Office. The reboot aims to curate a lucrative series of films starting with Hellboy: The Crooked Man.

Fans rally for Guillermo del Toro to direct Hellboy Reboot

Guillermo del Toro

After the confirmation that Hellboy Reboot will be written by the creators of the comic book, fans want Guillermo del Toro to return as the director. He has enough experience with the genre and has directed Hellboy films in the past, namely, Hellboy which was released in 2004, and Hellboy II: The Golden Army. The director has a knack of creating unconventional horror, and transporting his audience into a dark space which is rooted in reality. Fans on Twitter are now begging him to direct the reboot and complete his trilogy.

The plea to bring back del Toro comes specially after Brian Taylor was bought on board to direct the Reboot. Many think a Reboot is unnecessary or the Reboot should be a continuation of del Toro’s Hellboy duology. By bringing del Toro on board instead of Taylor, the creators will ensure a fantastic film and will also lend the director the opportunity to make his Hellboy Trilogy a success.
