Brendan Fraser is on cloud nine after winning his first ever Best Actor Oscar for The Whale, where he plays a 600-pound man named Charlie. The film has brought him accolades and opportunities as the actor is now receiving more projects after being allegedly blacklisted from Hollywood. However, it looks like Fraser wants to get out of the shadow of The Whale and shed people’s perception of him playing a heavyweight character. So he is reportedly hitting the gym to get his old lean body with six packs back.
Brendan Fraser Wants To Get Back Into Shape
Brendan Fraser made a fairytale Hollywood comeback after he bagged an Oscar for the first movie he starred in after being absent for years from the industry. It’s a heartwarming tale that not many actors can claim to have. But the star is seemingly not satisfied with this. As per sources, the actor wants to regain his George of the Jungle body, and for that, he has been sweating away at the gym. The site reported:
“Brendan has been quietly hitting the gym again, trying to get his old body back. He wants to lose weight the natural way, not resort to Ozempic or weight-loss surgery. But at 54, it’s not exactly a piece of cake.”
In his peak years, Fraser boasted a body that would make anyone drool over him. But age and his life chipped away at it. However, if he can get his old body back at this age, he can become an even bigger star in Hollywood. The site’s sources claim:
“If he can get back into his George of the Jungle body, his star will rise even higher. At the end of the day, Hollywood has always been more about looks than talent. If Brendan can get his six-pack abs back, ironically, he would be BIGGER than Brad Pitt.”
One has to wonder if he is gunning for a superhero or action-hero film by slimming down. But that’s just speculation for now. Reports claim that representatives of Fraser have denied all such rumors, yet it can’t be contested that fans of the star would love to see him in a heart-thumping action role.
The Whale was Life-Changing For The Actor
Brendan Fraser wore a fat suit in Darren Aronofsky’s film The Whale to play the role of a 600-pound reclusive teacher who desperately wants to connect with his estranged daughter. On The Graham Norton Show, the actor explained what it felt like to wear that prosthetic. Fraser explained that the suit made him appreciate the strength of a person of that size. The actor elaborated:
“It was designed with the rules that it would obey gravity and physics. It was appropriately heavy and that really made the experience of playing the part, I think, a lot closer to what it would be like to live in a body of a man that size, for me personally… It also let me know that, to be a person that size, you really have to be very strong, physically and emotionally. And I grew to appreciate that by having played this part.”
The actor will next be seen in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon where he will star beside Leonardo DiCaprio. Also, in 2021, he was confirmed to be a part of the Brothers film where he will star alongside Peter Dinklage and Josh Brolin. No release date has been given for it.
The Whale is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, while Killers of the Flower Moon will be on AppleTV+ after its theatrical premiere on October 6, 2023.
