After a lackluster Phase 4 of the MCU, the fans were hopeful that the films scheduled for Phase 5 would prove to be a reset from the previous films in the franchise to return to the good old days of Marvel Studios. But with the release of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, it seems like even that hope has been lost.
With its release, the film opened up with a rating of 71% on the Rotten Tomatoes website, proving to hopeful fans that maybe it’s time they realized that Marvel Studios may have stopped trying. But what still gives them that sliver of hope for the future of the franchise is Jonathan Majors playing the role of Kang the Conquerer.
Fans Are Hopeful For Jonathan Majors In The MCU
While Thanos may have brought the entire universe to its knees in Phase 4 of the MCU with the power of the Infinity Stones at his disposal, Jonathan Majors has single-handedly overtaken that feat with the power to control space and time with just the power of his mind and unparalleled intelligence, depicted in brief in Loki. But still, it wasn’t enough to entice the fans to spend their money and time on the new Ant-Man movie.

The opening weekend of the movie was a disaster in kicking-off the Phase 5, as the film received less than average ratings of past films, while the box office collection had a similar story to tell. This, in turn, stretched into the latest weekend, where the film made just $12 Million from the previous weekend, putting it in a very disappointing spot.
While the film itself as a whole may not have made a decent impression on the audience, Majors’ role as the next big bad of the MCU has given the fans something to believe in for the future of the franchise.
While the movie may have been a disaster, fans and audiences are glad that Majors might still be able to save the MCU in the future.
What’s Next For The MCU?
The start may have been a wobbly one, but if we have learned anything from the last 15 years of the MCU, it is that they have a way of making everything work no matter how gloomy the situation might seem. With Ant-Man 3 being a minor hiccup in the grand scheme of things about to unfold, there are still quite a few projects to look forward to, not to mention, the upcoming Avengers films that are the secret ingredients in Marvel Studios’ recipe for success.
