The Lost City (2022) was released around the world on March 25, 2022. Directed by Aaron Nee and Adam Nee, the movie featured some big stars of Hollywood like Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe, and Brad Pitt.
Brad Pitt played the role of Jack Trainer in the movie, a character that was crucial to the storyline. It was revealed by the Nee brothers, that they were uncertain about the actor who will play the role. Several stars were shortlisted for the role, including Keanu Reeves. However, Reeves was occupied with other things at the time. Reeves’ participation in the movie would’ve been fun for Sandra Bullock as the two have been good friends for a long time now.
Keanu Reeves almost replaced Brad Pitt in The Lost City
Aaron Nee and Adam Nee’s The Lost City was a decent movie. It received an IMDb rating of 6.1 out of 10. To be fair, the star-studded cast was the main attraction of the movie. Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe, and Brad Pitt are a few famous celebrities who star in the movie. Last year, the Nee brothers explained in an interview with ScreenRant that Keanu Reeves was shortlisted for the role that went to Brad Pitt. Adam Nee said,
“I think we thought it was gonna be Keanu Reeves initially, but he was tied up with John Wick, and that’s where we were like, ‘Brad was always our first choice’ but we didn’t think it was gonna happen. Then [Sandra] did Bullet Train, and it came together. And I love Keanu, he would’ve been fun too.”
Pitt starred in The Lost City as Jack Trainer, a man Alan (Channing Tatum) met while on a meditation retreat. Trainer specializes as a mercenary and is hired to help track Loretta (Sandra Bullock) down. The movie grossed over $192 million worldwide on a budget of $74 million.
Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves are good friends
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock first met on the set of the 1994 film Speed. Reeves played the role of Jack Traven while Bullock played the role of Annie Porter, Traven’s love interest. Their on-screen chemistry was so good that they won Best On-Screen Duo at the 1995 MTV Movie Awards.
The two praised each other publicly for a very long time and shared a special bond. The two reunited roughly half a decade later to film Alejandro Agresti’s 2006 movie The Lake House. Once again, the two displayed really good chemistry on-screen, sparking dating rumors. However, the two shut them down stating that they are good friends. If Reeves worked in The Lost City, it would’ve been a fun reunion.
