Samuel L. Jackson has made himself a household name with his role as Nick Fury in the MCU. The actor has also been a part of several prominent movies like Jurassic Park, Pulp Fiction, and xXx. But the actor has also expressed his interest in joining another major action franchise- John Wick. It was reported back in 2017, that the Marvel favorite had a desire to work with Keanu Reeves.
John Wick is one of the most iconic action franchises of all time. All four movies in the Keanu Reeves saga have seen a steady graph for improvement with every movie. Many major stars have been seen in the franchise. Unfortunately, our Nick Fury didn’t get a chance to explore the world of High Table yet.
Samuel L. Jackson wanted to enter the world of John Wick
The Keanu Reeves franchise is largely known for its sleek and unique action sequences that always present a different level of brutality every time. Samuel L. Jackson is no stranger to action after his work in so many Quentin Tarantino movies along with the xXx, Die Hard with a Vengeance, and many more.
The topic arose when journalist Simon Thompson spoke to Meet The Movie Press before the release of John Wick: Chapter 3 about a movie on Nick Fury. Even after being an integral part of the MCU, the character never got any chance to lead his own flick. Speaking about it, Thompson claimed that Jackson was more interested in working on a John Wick movie.
“He actually was less interested in that than he was in an idea he floated with me, and he’s floated it with me twice now. He wants to do, over a Nick Fury movie, John Wick 3 with Laurence Fishburne and Keanu Reeves. He absolutely loves the John Wick movies. He wants in. He doesn’t want in, he wants in with a capital IN. Seriously, I think he will do whatever he needs to do to get in on John Wick 3.”
Sadly, his wish failed to be fulfilled as John Wick: Chapter 3- Parabellum didn’t cast the Secret Invasion lead. Although we have come a long way, the future appearance of Samuel L. Jackson in the world of High Table might find a place among the long list of sequels and spin-offs planned for the franchise.
Can Samuel L. Jackson find a place in the future of John Wick?
There have been four movies in the action-thriller franchise created by Derek Kolstad. According to the studio, they want to extend it more with many new additions to the saga. Even though the ending of the fourth movie and the highest grosser of the franchise showed the assassin succumbing to his injuries, the makers have promised a fifth installment as well.
Talks related to the fifth part were there for a long time. It was earlier planned to be shot back to back with John Wick: Chapter 4 but was later canceled due to several reasons. While Samuel L. Jackson can be well-fitted in John Wick 5, he can also be a part of the long roaster of additions to the universe.
Besides a spin-off series on The Continental which stars Mel Gibson and Colin Woodell in the lead, the franchise will also see Keanu Reeves in Ana de Armas’ Ballerina. Although the theaters would burst with cheers after watching the tuxedo-clad assassin once again, it’s set before the events of the latest movies. Many fans considered Jackson to play the antagonist in the third movie, which can also be a potential idea for the sequel.
