Kate Winslet Feels Harry Potter Star Didn't Like Her Before She Became Famous With 'Titanic'

Kate Winslet was a fresh face in Hollywood when she was working opposite Alan Rickman in the movie Sense and Sensibility. Winslet was cast opposite the late actor in the romantic drama movie. The 47-year-old actress portrayed the character of Marianne and the Galaxy Quest actor was seen as Colonel Brandon.

There were also big names like Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, and Greg Wise part of the same movie. It was the beginning of Winslet’s career, and during an interview, she stated that she thought Rickman disliked her when they first met.

Alan Rickman was one of the most attractive actors in the ’80s and even the ’90s. The late actor’s charming persona propelled him to fame in the industry. Rickman’s looks were not the only thing that wowed the audience, his acting abilities also stood out. Many fans loved Kate Winslet and the Die Hard actor’s pairing in the movie. When the famous Titanic actress was asked about her experience working with the Dogma actor, she explained that she was terrified when she first met Rickman. While talking about her first meeting with the late actor, the 47-year-old actress said,

“Alan is such a gentleman but when I first met him I was absolutely terrified. I was 19 and he’s got that voice. I remember thinking, ‘I’m going to die, he thinks I’m rubbish, why am I here?”’

In another interview, the I Am actress stated that all the famous actors who worked with her on the film treated her on the same level. Even though she was a newcomer, the co-stars made sure she was fine.

Alan Rickman described Kate Winslet as a phenomenal craftsperson

During an interview, Rickman recalled that the Divergent actress wrote a book about her experience on the set of Sense and Sensibility. The late British actor explained that Winslet would note down the things director Ang Lee would say and there were some quotes as well. Rickman and Winslet came back once again to work on another project years after the filming of their first movie together. The Holiday actress and the Gambit actor collaborated in the movie A Little Chaos, which was released in 2014.

In the romantic drama movie, Rickman played the role of King Louis XIV, and the 47-year-old actress portrayed the character of Sabine De Barra. The late actor recalled during an interview that when he first met Winslet she was 19 years old, the British actor said,

“We worked together when she was 19 in Sense and Sensibility. It was like meeting a whole new person. Kate is someone who arrives incredibly prepared, free, and non-judgmental. She is a phenomenal craftsperson.”

When the Eye In The Sky actor passed away on 14 January 2016, Winslet penned down an emotional eulogy for her late friend and co-star. She wrote, if would want to describe Rickman in one word she will use the word kind. The Labor Day actress mentioned that he was a big softy.
