What do Harrison Ford and Tom Cruise have in common? A lot apparently. The two of them are distinctly Hollywood’s biggest stars and command millions in salary. From Star Wars and Indiana Jones to Mission Impossible and Top Gun, between them, they have led some of the biggest film franchises in the world.
Working on these action franchises, which pioneered a lot of stunts isn’t an easy job. While Ford’s time to undertake action is probably coming to an end because of his age, the star is all praises for Tom Cruise, who he shares another connection with- their love for aviation.
Harrison Ford Praised Tom Cruise And Revealed Surprising Connection To Him
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Harrison Ford revealed that he not only knew Tom Cruise, but that both of them have talked about their shared love of flying. Ford also credited Cruise for pushing the boundaries of physical stunts. He said:
“I like Tom. We talk about flying. But he’s far deeper into physical acting than I ever was. I don’t mind running, jumping, falling down, rolling around on the floor with sweaty guys. Tom takes it to a whole new level that’s pretty amazing.”

For the uninitiated, the Air Force One star has his pilot’s license and goes flying when he’s free. Cruise recently made headlines for piloting multiple jets in Top Gun: Maverick. Apart from this, he is known for flying his own planes as well.
Both the stars are also known for rescuing and helping people in need. In fact, Ford was once actively involved in rescuing stranded people with his helicopter. But he later abandoned that because people weren’t giving other team members their due credit.
Why Did Harrison Ford Stop Rescuing People With His Helicopter?
During the interview, Harrison Ford was asked how did stranded hikers react to seeing him rescue them. While the interviewer was probably expecting a heartwarming story, the actor revealed that one of the reasons he isn’t part of rescue operations anymore is that other team members didn’t get praised for their efforts.
He narrated an incident saying:
“Well, one time we picked up this woman who was hypothermic on the mountain. She barfed in my cowboy hat but didn’t know who I was until the next day. I stopped doing it because we would be lucky enough to find somebody and then they’d be on Good Morning America talking about ‘a hero pilot.’ It’s nothing f***ing like that. It’s a team effort. It’s lame to think about it that way.”
When Ford isn’t rescuing people, he is busy filming new projects, the biggest one- Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will arrive soon. While the reviews till now have been mixed, it can still shatter the box office simply because it’s probably the last Indy project Ford will star in. But whether that happens or not remains to be seen.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be released on 30 June 2023.
