Greta Gerwig Throws Light on Sylvester Stallone’s References in Barbie
In a new interview with Uproxx, Greta Gerwig made sure to express her admiration and love for Rocky franchise star, Sylvester Stallone. She also mentioned how he has been used as an inspiration for Barbie‘s Ken to get the idea of a real man when he visits the real world.
“Oh, I hope so! Because everything that we have, or that we reference, in the movie is only ever stuff that we love. And I mean, I love Sylvester Stallone.”
She turned out to be a great fan of the action star who admitted,
“And I love all those Rocky movies. I love him a lot.”
Not just her, even our Ken, i.e., Ryan Gosling also felt likewise.
“So it was a really early thing, actually. When Ryan Gosling and I were texting a lot, we kind of both stumbled upon our mutual love of Sly Stallone.”
Their mutual love for Sly eventually led them to get more exposure to what they can do in their Barbie project.
“And then we were talking about his look in the ‘70s and how terrific it was. And he really adorned himself as a man. And we thought, “Well, that’s a good place to start.” I mean, there are just sort of fabulous images of him, particularly in the Rockys.”
With both talented minds on the same pace, they didn’t hold themselves to showcasing their love for Stallone by making references to their pink real world.
