It is no secret that Mark Wahlberg is among the most celebrated actors in the film industry. With many movies across different genres, million-dollar paychecks, and collaborations with numerous A-listers, Wahlberg is one of the biggest stars of Hollywood.
Often seen promoting a healthier lifestyle with a strict fitness regimen, Wahlberg is among the most followed fitness icons of showbiz. However, the Transformers star recently came under backlash from fans for launching and promoting his tequila brand Flecha Azul.
Mark Wahlberg Under Fire For Promoting Flecha Azul
Mark Wahlberg re-launched and invested in the tequila brand Flecha Azul earlier this year. While fans weren’t happy seeing Wahlberg, a fitness icon, investing in alcohol back then, they became even more upset when the Pain & Gain star took to Instagram for the brand’s promotions.
Many commented that alcohol and exercise are never a good combination and that the star should stop confusing people with his hypocritical beliefs. Calling him a materialist, fans also commented that Wahlberg is always using social media for sales pitching for one or the other thing. Many even brutally attacked him by labeling him as a liar, for promoting a brand that he is only a part investor while mentioning that it would be much better if the star shared details about his family and life with his fans instead of constantly posting marketing stuff.
Not only did Wahlberg draw falk for promoting fitness, health, and alcohol together, but he was also under fire from fans for his religious beliefs. Wahlberg, who identifies himself as a proud Catholic Christian and considers his religion the best part of his life, was also called out for promoting alcohol despite his ‘very strong’ religious beliefs.
Well, this isn’t the first time Wahlberg has drawn backlash for his actions.
Mark Wahlberg Has Had His Own Share Of Controversies
Despite being a celebrated actor with millions of followers, the 52-year-old has been involved in several controversies. Earlier when he had launched the tequila brand, he was called out for calling tequila the healthiest alcohol for fitness and health.
But these make the least of his controversies since the Transformers star was also involved in a number of racial and hate crimes early on. Even charged with attempted murder at one point, Wahlberg was awarded a two-year prison sentence for assaulting two Vietnamese men.
He has since long apologized for his actions and sought pardon for his crimes, but his many controversies continue to come back at some point or the other hampering his star status.
