After James Gunn was appointed as the co-CEO of DC Studios, he uprooted many established DC character role players such as Henry Cavill from Superman, Ben Affleck from Batman, Dwayne Johnson from Black Adam and even canceled a post-production staged movie of Wonder Woman 3 starring Gal Gadot. He has recently established the DCU Bible that has an extensively planned timeline for the upcoming events, at least for the next 5 years and has recently hinted about the roles of Batman and Superman.

James Gunn Hints at an Older Cast for Batman After He Removed Ben Affleck

James Gunn in a recent press event revealed that a new Superman is under works and he will be a reporter for the Daily Planet as he previously was and also stated that comparing Superman’s age to that of Batman, Bruce Wayne will be a bit older than that of Clark Kent. He goes on to add that Superman has always been portrayed as a bit younger than Batman as Henry Cavill‘s Superman came into the scenario many years after Ben Affleck’s Batman was cleaning the streets.

“He’s working. He’s a reporter. He’s at the Daily Planet. Again, we’re coming into a world where superheroes exist and have existed. So, does that mean Batman might be a couple years older than Superman? Yes, it could be.”

While James Gunn has stripped apart Zack Snyder’s Justice League along with his future plans, it is assured that James Gunns and Peter Safran have a clear goal for this universe and will bring success to the ever-failing franchise. The new cast for both these superheroes will have around 5 years age gap as per Gunn as it is widely known that he is emphasizing more on the Superman cast.

James Gunn Hints at a Younger Superman Cast

Superman: Legacy will be the upcoming project for Superman under the supervision of James Gunn and is set to release on July 11, 2025, but a new young actor will be portraying the role of Clark Kent. James Gunn removed Henry Cavill’s Superman as he was introduced by Zack Snyder. Gunn has stated that he will be emphasizing more on the early life of Clark Kent aka Superman and a young actor only makes sense for this role. Peter Safran said,

“It’s not an origin story, “It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. Superman represents truth, justice, and the American way, he is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old fashioned.”
