Samuel L Jackson found an incredible career in his Hollywood years. From starring in Quentin Tarantino movies to starring as the boss of the Avengers, the actor has seen the roaring 1990s as well as modern CGIs and green screens.
Having starred in the Star Wars franchise, the actor seems to have iconic actor Harrison Ford as his frienemy. In an interview on The Graham Norton Show, the Pulp Fiction actor talked about how Harrison Ford was lucky that Samuel Jackson will not be in the then-upcoming Captain America 3.
Samuel L Jackson Considers Harrison Ford To Be Just “Lucky”
Samuel Jackson and Harrison Ford have both been part of the iconic franchise Star Wars in two different yet notable roles. Back in 1999, Jackson starred in the role of Mace Windu in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace while Harrison Ford continued his role as Han Solo in the iconic franchise.
Now, it seems that with Harrison Ford set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Django Unchained actor is not too happy about it. In an interview on The Graham Norton Show, Samuel L Jackson joked quite a bit about his competition with Harrison Ford and stated that Ford is lucky Jackson was not in Captain America: Civil War.
When Graham Norton talked to Jackson about how he recently lost his title of being the highest-grossing actor of all time, here’s how The Hitman’s Bodyguard actor replied jokingly.
“I’ve been displaced by Harrison Ford…again. I displaced him, he displaced me but hey, it’s only 70 mil [million]. He’s lucky I’m not in Captain America 3 now!”
The actor further continued that he watches his own movies quite religiously and being Samuel L Jackson, he was proud of it too.
“Yes, I do…religiously. I watch them at home, I go to the theater. I know when I have a movie that’s opening, I know it’s going to make at least a thousand dollars that weekend because I buy thousand dollars worth of tickets”
In the end, it was all friendly banter, and no offense was given and none was taken. The actor did make good on his promise by not appearing in Captain America: Civil War. There is a bit of gravitas that Samuel L Jackson adds to the character of Nick Fury which he knows the people love.
Samuel L Jackson Talks About Nick Fury In The MCU
Much like several of his iconic movies, Samuel Jackson also found worldwide fame for starring in the role of Nick Fury in the MCU. In an interview, the actor talked about what makes his role so great in the MCU and how he created a backstory for Nick Fury to add more depth to the character.
“Even now, with Nick Fury, he had a whole other life that we hadn’t dealt with. Having the theatrical background allows me to imagine what nobody’s ever seen on film. And whether I talk about it or not, I carry that information around with me; I know who that person is or what their history is.”
The actor further continued,
“When I hit the screen, a lot of times audience members go, I want to go with him. Because I’ve got something interesting happening in my body language or how I present myself. All those things I learned to do when I was on the stage.”
Jackson was recently seen reprising his role as Nick Fury in Marvel’s Secret Invasion. The series, much like every other MCU project, is available to stream on Disney+ in the U.S.
