Christian Bale Stepped Away From W

Before Christian Bale ever tried out for the titular character in Vice, he was set to play President George W. Bush in Oliver Stone’s W. The actor had already signed on for the film and was extensively preparing for it. He had mastered everything, from the way he walked to the way he talked. He was more than ready for the role and everyone was expecting him to play the part beautifully.

“Well frankly, Christian’s a very methodical actor,” Oliver Stone stated. “And he has to have the makeup thing work for him.”

It wasn’t until the last minute that things started crumbling down for them. Bale decided not to do the movie at the very end. It was a shock to everyone but when he was having his makeup done, he realized that he was not ideal for the role. One important aspect for Bale is that he should look the part just as much as he should act. However, that was not something he saw in himself when he was to play Bush.

Oliver Stone Thinks Josh Brolin Did A Better Job

The actor who ended up taking the role of George W. Bush was none other than Josh Brolin and Oliver Stone was more than happy. He was in awe after he saw the actor playing the part because he believed that no one could have done it better than him.

“I think Josh is better than George,” Stone added. “He’s more handsome in a way. I think that if George ever accepts the movie [and watches it], he may very much like Josh Brolin doing him.”

He added that not only can he look the part, but he also played him so accurately that even the President might wonder who did a better job.
