James Cameron is indeed a veteran and notable director for the movies he has created over the years. The director has indeed involved himself in some controversies after pushing the limits of several actors during the making of his movies.
An example of Cameron’s abilities is how he let Kate Winslet think that she was drowning to get that primal fear in her eyes. Leonardo DiCaprio attested to this fact when he revealed that Cameron is indeed a man who likes to push his limits.
James Cameron Always Gets What He Wants
The world changed when Cameron created the iconic 1997 masterpiece Titanic. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet the movie received rave reviews and an overwhelming reception from around the world.
Unbeknownst to the world, the actors gave it their all to create James Cameron’s masterpiece while filming Titanic. In an interview, the Django Unchained star talked about his time working with the acclaimed director DiCaprio revealing some details that put Cameron in somewhat of a negative spotlight. Talking about how James Cameron always gets what he wants, DiCaprio affirmed what other actors had been saying for years.
“Jim knows exactly what he wants. Needless to say, when somebody felt a different way on the set of Titanic, there was a confrontation. Jim had it out with them right there in front of everybody. He lets you know exactly how he feels. But he’s of the lineage of John Ford.”
He further continued,
“He knows what he wants his film to be. I remember sitting in a theater after it was done and being in awe. He got what he wanted.”
In a separate interview, the director talked about how Leonardo DiCaprio did not want to be the leading man in the movie and Cameron had to convince him to star in his iconic magnum opus.
When James Cameron Had To Convince Leonardo DiCaprio
DiCaprio wasn’t so sure about the role of Jack Dawson in the 1997 movie. As the acclaimed director stated, he had to convince DiCaprio to join in on the high tide. The director revealed that he had to “twist his arm” for him to be in the movie.
“He didn’t want to do a leading man. I had to really twist his arm to be in the movie. He didn’t want to do it. He thought it was boring. It didn’t surprise me, first of all, that he’s made a lot of authentic choices going forward. And secondly, I never doubted his talent.”
In the end, Titanic received a rating of 7.9/10 on IMDB and 88% on Rotten Tomatoes with the movie winning 11 Oscars! The James Cameron-directed movie is available to stream on Netflix.
