“He got a bit snippy”: Alfred Molina Was Terrified of Kevin Feige For Spoiling Spider-Man: No Way Home as Marvel Head Got Sarcastic With Actor on the Red Carpet

Alfred Molina Was Terrified of Kevin Feige For Spoiling Spider-Man No Way Home

With so much Marvel content in development these days, it becomes really hard to keep everything secret. Marvel did a remarkable job not letting many leaks slip out during Infinity War and Endgame’s release window. But the likes of Mark Ruffalo and Tom Holland did a fair bit to spoil those movies. And when it was time for No Way Home, Alfred Molina took the baton from Holland and spilled the beans about his involvement in the movie. But having done that, he was certainly afraid of Marvel’s greatest sniper, Kevin Feige!

What Went Down With Alfred Molina

Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus

Marvel could not contain all details about the returning villains of No Way Home as the appearance of all 5 villains had already been reported. Jamie Foxx had shared an Instagram post about his return and deleted it. But after him when the filming began, reports suggested that Alfred Molina was on the set of No Way Home filming that bridge battle featuring Doc Ock and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

Then a few days after the report, Molina himself confirmed his presence in the film thinking that news about him had already been reported. But apparently, that was a mistake on his part as neither Sony’s Amy Pascal, nor Marvel Boss Kevin Feige were happy about what he said. Molina recently spoke to RadioTimes.com and gave us a rundown of what really happened back then:

“Just accidentally, I was talking to a journalist who said, ‘So, you know, how’s the Spider-Man movie going?’ And I went, ‘Oh, great thanks’. Then literally the next day, Variety was like, ‘Alfred Molina reveals Doc Ock returns,’

And I got into such trouble. I was getting phone calls from Amy Pascal, Kevin Feige was on the red carpet somewhere and somebody asked him about some Marvel movie and apparently, he got a bit snippy and turned around and said, ‘Ask Alfred Molina’.”

Clearly, Feige wasn’t happy. But Molina’s reveal did allow Marvel and Sony to put Doc Ock in the first No Way Home trailer. So that was a win!

Not the First Mistake by an MCU Actor

Mark Ruffalo
Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk

While Molina’s error was pretty recent, you just can’t forget about the King of Spoiling Marvel movies (not Tom Holland), Mark Ruffalo. The Hulk actor really couldn’t zip it in his interviews as not only did he reveal that everyone was going to die at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, but he also partially streamed the first 15 minutes of Thor: Ragnarok on Facebook Live. It was quite crazy, but thankfully for him, he didn’t get in a lot of trouble for all that.

Now with the next batch of upcoming Marvel movies, it will be interesting to see if any other actor joins the club of Marvel leakers.
