Tom Cruise Risked Being Blown Away By A Helicopter For The Perfect Shot
In a recent video by Fandango, Tom Cruise shared what went behind getting the perfect shot for the launching from the ramp scene. He said he has been riding bikes since he was a kid and he has been preparing for years for this very moment. Upon asking why did he nod before starting his motorcycle run, Cruise said it was a moment that he and his crew had been training and preparing for.
“I didn’t know what was gonna happen. It was the first day filming. Look I spent years preparing for this. It’s not just the years prepping and figuring it out but I have been riding motorcycles since I was a little kid. But parachuting, training, constantly developing knowledge, developing technology on how to shoot these scenes.
He also reflected on the complexity of the shot where everything had to be in sync. Any minor error could result in injuries or a failed take which would be devastating for the film.
“When I was on the ramp I was thinking ‘Let’s see how it goes’. As that helicopter is going across we had to be in sync because he could have blown me off that ramp. So his timing, my speed had to be perfect to adjust the camera”
This is why Tom Cruise is considered one of the most daring actors to have ever graced Hollywood, as he chooses to constantly deliver death-defying stunts himself. His stern commitment to serve even at the age of 60 is why the Mission: Impossible franchise is one of the most successful franchises ever.
