Early Details of The Game of Thrones Prequel

On 12th April 2023, it was announced that HBO Max and Discovery+ streaming service would be combined calling themselves Max. But that’s not the important news, as in the Warner Bros. Discovery presentation to the press and investors, it was announced that a prequel to the original show would be made, based on George R. R. Martin’s novel series set 90 years before the events of A Song of Ice and Fire. The official Twitter handle of HBO Max posted a video announcing the production of the series.

The prequel series is titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. The official logline of the prequel stated that a century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unrealistic heroes wandered Westeros: Ser Duncan the Tall, a young naïf but courageous knight who is known as Dunk, and his squire, a young boy called Egg, who is Aegon Targaryen, a member of the royal family.

The events would be set in an age where the Targaryen family rules the Iron Throne. The two heroes would go on a journey while exploring new places, facing powerful foes, and dangers, and meeting new friends along the way.

Who Will Be the Writer of the Game of Thrones Prequel?

Martin being the writer of the novel series is a good choice because Game of Thrones, as well as House of the Dragon, was originally based on his novels. Moreover, this prequel was in the works for quite some time, and fans are excited as the highly exciting novel is finally being made into TV Series.

Why The Prequel Will Be a Great Watch?

The novel series based on the adventures of Dunk and Egg is considered one of the best works of fiction by numerous critics as well as readers due to the author’s intricate details in plotlines as well as beautiful world-building. Moreover, the series provides a detailed insight into the events, history, and mythology of the Game of Thrones world.

In addition to the world-building and plot of the novel series, Martin gave equal importance to the protagonists of his series. Dunk is an honorable knight following his codes and duties despite being difficult and disliked; while Egg is a witty character giving comic relief to the readers. But don’t get fooled, as the young boy is very resourceful. The novel series is immensely popular among fans, and considering the success and popularity of the original series, the Game of Thrones prequel would be a great watch.
