With the Golden Archer finally getting his own entourage, it’s hard to keep him away from Marvel’s most dreaded spy. While we might never get to know what exactly happened in Budapest, the upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ series is confirmed to feature Black Widow in Clint Barton’s adventures alongside his protege, Kate Bishop. Though we will see the last of Natasha Romanoff in the upcoming Black Widow movie, the mantle is not being shelved anytime soon.

Joining as the successor of Natasha Romanoff, the Midsommar star Florence Pugh will make her first appearance in the upcoming Black Widow movie as Yelena Belova. As the movie will explore more of the Red Room, which was first shown in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the movie will also star Stranger Things star David Harbour as Red Guardian.

According to an exclusive report from The Direct, Florence Pugh will be appearing alongside Jeremy Renner in the upcoming Hawkeye series. Reprising her role of Yelena Belova/Black Widow in the show, the Golden Archer has gained a powerful ally.

The report also states that Yelena Belova might don the Ronin costume, which was last seen in Avengers: Endgame when Clint Barton had briefly adopted the title and was on a killing spree after losing his family to Thanos’ snap.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR HAWKEYE?
The confirmation of Yelena Belova appearing in Hawkeye is surely exciting. Despite being unclear in what capacity the character will be featuring, it however confirms that Yelena Belova survives the event of Black Widow. Past rumors of Yelena being killed in the movie can finally be debunked with this news.
Though it is yet unknown if Yelena Belova’s Black Widow is aware of Clint Barton, it also opens up a possibility of the archer making a brief appearance in the Black Widow movie. But most importantly, the reports of Florence Pugh’s Black Widow adopting the moniker of Ronin is what makes her character so interesting.
Earlier, the Native-American hero Echo was confirmed to appear in the upcoming show. Maya Lopez/Echo was the first Ronin in the comics, followed by Clint Barton adopting the title. Though it is expected that Marvel Studios won’t be exactly faithful to the comics, having so many contenders for the title is surely an interesting scenario. Moreover, Clint’s murderous rage while donning the costume might also evoke an ethical dilemma in the hero when he once again comes across the Ronin identity.
As Hawkeye will soon enter production, fans of Black Widow can breathe easy, since the character is here to stay for some time.
