Gwyneth Paltrow might recently be known for her healthy lifestyle brand Goop, but once upon a time, the actress was a leading Hollywood diva, starring in major blockbusters. Recalling that golden era of hers, Paltrow discussed her promising career in the film industry.
Drawing admiration for her performances and winning Academy Awards during the early 2000s, Gwyneth Paltrow mentioned how her impressive acting skills got significantly reduced over the years. Thus, the actress sat for an interview with The Guardian and criticized a few of her films, alongside renowned stars, and divided her filmography into two categories.
Gwyneth Paltrow Is Her Own Robust Critic
The MCU actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who first came into prominence after starring in movies like Seven, A Perfect Murder, and more, soon catapulted her fame with phenomenal projects like Shakespeare in Love. Turning the tables and switching into a promising career in Hollywood, Paltrow even earned an Oscar for Best Actress in 1999.
However, despite delivering more than impressive performances in the film industry, Paltrow lost her charm sooner than others. Getting pushed out of the spotlight in the mid-2000s, Paltrow mentioned how her fame got significantly reduced over the years. Thus, after appearing in MCU movies alongside Robert Downey Jr., the actress purposefully dissected her filmography during an interview.
Being her personal critic, Gwyneth Paltrow thus segregated her filmography into two polar opposite categories. Naming one category, her sheer dedication to stagecraft, the actress named the other category as money-making movies. Thus, while dissecting her films, Paltrow recalled her 2003 rom-com View from the Top starring Mark Ruffalo, and shared some opinions on the same.
Gwyneth Paltrow Slammed Her $19M Movie
Sitting for an interview with The Guardian, Gwyneth Paltrow mentioned being super embarrassed about her new 2003 movie View from the Top. Starring alongside Mark Ruffalo, Christina Applegate, and Mike Myers, the actress mentioned finding the plot of the movie sort of awful even while she was shooting it.
“This terrible movie called View From the Top that Harvey Weinstein talked me into doing.”
Playing the role of a young woman who sets out to achieve her dream of becoming a flight attendant, Gwyneth Paltrow mentioned feeling awful about being involved in such a trash project. Aligning her opinions with the reviews from the critics, Paltrow labeled View from the Top as one of her “sh*t films”.
Thereafter, the MCU actress mentioned navigating into advertisements and giving up on doing films just for the sake of money. Gwyneth Paltrow revealed how she became the face of Estee Lauder after she stopped making “sh*t films” like View from the Top. Claiming to have turned her stagecraft into a labor of love, Paltrow thus chose advertisement for the money-making process.
