After more than a decade since the magical trio of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint shared the screen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, the global stars are once again set to reunite to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone which was released on this date in the United States two decades ago. As the franchise’s first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone paved the path for a multi-billion dollar magical universe that would enchant and inspire generations to come.
Apart from the trio, director Chris Columbus shall also be joining the stars along with other cast members from the eight movies that spanned across a decade. After the thundering success of reunion specials of FRIENDS and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, WarnerMedia and HBO Max have now decided to treat the fans with a reunion special that is scheduled to premiere on New Year’s Day, January 1, on HBO Max.
The 20th-anniversary special is expected to take the fans through a magical whirlwind of stories, anecdotes, and tales with in-depth interviews of the cast members that made the entire journey possible. Notable Harry Potter alumni who shall be joining this magical special are Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, Oliver Phelps, James Phelps, Robbie Coltrane, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, and Ian Hart. The 20th-anniversary reunion special will also debut on TBS and Cartoon Network in spring 2022 prior to the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore which is set to release on April 15th, 2022 in the United States.
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will premiere on January 1, 2022, exclusively on HBO Max.
