In just two weeks’ time, the game saw the sale of more than 12 Million units for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC, making a staggering sales revenue of $850 Million within such a short span of time.
These numbers are clear indications of the sheer loyalty of the fanbase that the Harry Potter franchise retains to this day, and the sales of the video game still continue to grow with each passing minute as more and more people are in line to buy one of the copies for their own pleasure. This in turn, also proves that any publicity that an outlet receives, may it be negative or positive, is good for it.

Ever since the release of the first book of the franchise in 1997, Harry Potter became a household name, with everyone from young to adults and the old singing the praises of the books, and later, the films. Thus, author JK Rowling was able to create an empire around her stories of the world of witches, wizards, and magic. And now, this legacy continues in the form of Hogwarts: Legacy, despite the number of controversies surrounding the writer.
With a number of Anti-Semitic and Anti-Trans tweets put out by the Fantastic Beasts author on her Twitter, many fans and supporters of the LGBTQ+ community were enraged with her opinions and the supposed hate she was spreading about the community in general. Thus, many of them swore to not buy the game and urged others who support the community to do the same. But the whole idea seemed to backfire when people came to know about the astronomical numbers that the game had amassed.
Thus, the negative press that the author received just made the franchise that much more well-known in discussions, making it the talk of the town, which in turn, led many to gather information about the game, making it more popular in the process. Thus, the saying ‘Any Publicity Is Good Publicity’ was personified by the sales records, which will only continue to grow further as time goes on.
