Harrison Ford’s movies have grossed more than $9.3 billion worldwide, but to get there, the actor has undergone a fair share of scars. On the bright side, it is these imperfections that make Hollywood’s Indiana Jones even more attractive, one being his scar on the chin. The car suffered this scar after crashing his car, and the story behind is worth narrating.
Harrison Ford Carries His Scars Like A Warrior
Before achieving mega-stardom and the status of America’s cultural icon, Harrison Ford was a carpenter on movie sets. And even before that, he worked at a department store. The actor, who late became a part of the $1.9 billion Indiana Jones franchise, crashed his car into a telephone booth while going to work.
Ford’s chin slammed into the steering wheel, leaving him with a deep cut. This was the time when cars didn’t come with airbags. Previously, he recalled that crashing a car was “a real mundane way of earning it.” But again, it is this very scar that makes him more attractive.
When he worked as a carpenter in Francis Ford Coppola’s office, George Lucas was admitted by Ford who decided to sign him up for the role of Han Solo. Lucas was the actor’s one-way ticket to success, and he has never looked back since then.
Harrison Ford Suffered Multiple Injuries On Movie Sets
When it comes to injuries, Harrison Ford’s got a long list of them. From Star Wars to Indiana Jones, the 80-year-old actor has an interesting set of backstories about his bruises and scars. For instance, during the filming of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Han Solo’s much-awaited return came with a near-death experience.

During one scene, a hydraulic door was accidentally activated, and Ford, who was underneath it, ended up breaking his leg. He described the incident as a “f***ing great hydraulic door which closed at light speed.” During the filming of The Fugitive, he damaged some ligaments in the left leg but refused surgery because it allowed him to stay in Richard Kimble’s character.
But nothing beats the kind of injuries he suffered during his time with the Indiana Jones franchise. He suffered a back injury during the filming of Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom. During Indiana Jones 5, America’s heartthrob suffered a serious shoulder injury due to which he had to take a hiatus from filming.
