Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the most successful franchises in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie has its own world that seamlessly connected with the Avengers and their quest for peace and freedom. Many characters from the Guardians of the Galaxy are well-loved by fans, and everyone’s excited to see them again in the final installment.
While the franchise is so popular among Reddit fans, some also aired controversial opinions about the film. From the themes down to the actors, these Reddit fans have something to say. Here’s what they think about the movie:
Drax Should Have Fought Thanos
Thanos was the biggest threat in the MCU and seeing all these teams, including the Guardians of the Galaxy, work with the Avengers, was a sight to behold. All of them gave their collective efforts to take Thanos down, but it was Iron Man who gave the final blow.
While it was a perfect conclusion, a Reddit fan believes it should have been Drax. The fan thinks he had a bigger reason to take on Thanos because the titan killed his family. “Drax deserved a bigger role in defeating Thanos,” said the Redditor.
Volume 2 Movie Was Better
The introduction of the first movie gave a fresh addition to the roster of MCU films. It was promising and well-received, and making the sequel must have been a challenge. The second movie, although fun and entertaining, did not get the same hype as the first one.
Despite so, Reddit user bimbo_ragno thinks that it is “better than Vol. 1” and another fan GreggThePrettyGoodGuy said that it is “the best MCU movie.”
Karen Gillan’s Acting Was Bad
Karen Gillan may have been on the show business for years, but the Guardians of the Galaxy catapulted her to fame. Her role as Nebula, a secondary villain, gave Gillan the opportunity to play a bigger role in the MCU.
Nebula is a very complicated character with a very secretive nature. While some fans loved Gillan’s acting, a Redditor expressed their disappointment. Calhoun1389 said they were not impressed, and she was “absolutely terrible” in the first movie.
Movie’s Humor Doesn’t Always Work
Comedy and humor are the lifelines of MCU, and Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the franchises that thrive on them. James Gunn’s touch of fun is what made fans love the films. From sarcastic one-liners to hilarious scenes, there are surely a couple of times when it gave the audience a good laugh.
But, sometimes, overuse of comedy takes away the effect. Redditor FentonBlatherskite believes “both Guardians movies could be maybe toned down.” They think the humor was inconsistent at some point.
Yondu Was Irredeemable
Yondu is an important character with a very complex nature. He can be called an anti-hero because of the way he acted and treated Quill. His death scene became significant as they made it look like an act of redemption.
Reddit fan PiterLauchy thinks he did not deserve the treatment and that he “abused Quill emotionally and physically.” This sacrifice he made won’t change anything in the past.
