If there’s one game that has been hyped up to the point of extremity, it would be GTA 6, and now, it seems that the project codename, Fireball, has allegedly leaked. GTA 6 will be the next entry in the long-running action-adventure franchise created by Rockstar Games. Not much is known about the title, but avid fans have found interesting details about the project and its development.

The Project Codename being used for GTA 6
Actor Reggie Talley has allegedly mentioned on his résumé that he is acting in a new game currently in development, with its title yet to be determined, codenamed Fireball. Fans of the series who have been following the trend in Rockstar‘s naming scheme when it comes to huge titles like GTA 6 have noticed some similarities in the nomenclature.
Previous titles also had interesting codenames, and taking into consideration that Rockstar Games has paused development on the remasters of GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption, it makes sense that they would want to focus all their resources on GTA 6. So there’s a pretty huge chance that the codename Fireball is, in fact, referring to GTA 6.
The codename Fireball has also appeared on other actors’ résumés, and it seems that Reggie Talley will only have a supporting role in this next title. Considering that all their CVs mention the title of the game as “yet to be decided”, we can assume that it’s GTA 6, as it seems to be the only major title currently in development at Rockstar.
This is all still speculation. For all we know, Fireball may not even be related to GTA 6 in the slightest, but there are reasons to believe so.
Why Codenames are so Important, especially when it comes to GTA 6
Many anticipated projects use codenames so that the public is unaware of any of the developments made during production. GTA 6 has been a victim when it comes to having information leaked. When gameplay footage from the title leaked, and it was quite a chunk of gameplay, there was a huge uproar on the Internet, with the main complaint being that the game did not look up to standards.
The criticism was quite unfair, as the game is still in development. Many game developers supported Rockstar by showing footage taken when their game was still in development to give the public an idea of what games look like when still in development. Many thought that the game still looked quite unfinished, but their anger was cooled after seeing other developers’ game development footage.
