With GTA 5 having just turned 10 years old, the entire gaming community has been sharing their memorable moments from the game that redefined the open-world genre. To commemorate the milestone, Rockstar has offered GTA Online players a trio of outfits inspired by the three main characters from GTA 5, alongside bonuses on classic modes, gameplay, and more.
At $256 Million, the game still holds the record of having the most expensive budget for a game ever. However, GTA 6 is rumoured to have a development budget that’s almost four times more. As fans wait impatiently, for the estimated record-breaking title there is a question on the minds of players everywhere; Where is GTA 6?

Grand Theft Auto 5, GTA Online, and All the Different Editions Released So Far
GTA 5 was released on the 17th of September 2013, with GTA Online following just a few weeks later on the 1st of October. While GTA 5‘s immersive open world got players immediately hooked on the game, GTA Online brought gamers together and has since gotten a plethora of updates as well. A recent tweet from Rockstar Games also showed how grateful they were for the GTA 5 community:
A massive thank you to anyone who has ever played, streamed, roleplayed, created, or shared from the world of Los Santos and Blaine County – here’s to many more adventures together! ❤️

Most recently, Rockstar Studios also released the GTA 5 Expanded and Enhanced edition on the 15th of March last year. This new version came to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, with upgraded graphics and new GTA Online Career missions.
The release of the Expanded and Enhanced edition marked the third time that GTA 5 has been ported over to a new console generation since its 2013 debut. It has only been beaten out in re-releases by Skyrim which has seven different editions of the game across eight platforms since it’s release 12 years ago. With every new update, GTA 5 and GTA Online just kept getting better and more suited for modern times.
Fans Have Been Clamoring for GTA 6 Updates for Quite Sometime Now
Whilst gamers never really get tired of GTA Online and GTA 5, they have been clamouring for an update on the next title in the series for years now. Most recently, at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live last month, a fan jumped on stage and tried to grab a microphone as he asked for an update on GTA 6.
Such has been the impatience of gamers around the world, they are now beyond frustrated at Rockstar Studios for not officially releasing an update. GTA 5 turning a decade old is one of the main reasons behind fan frustration at Rockstar Studios, along with the lacklustre releases of The Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy and the Red Dead Redemption remaster.
Last year, several pieces of alpha footage of GTA 6 were leaked, which only continued to stoke fan anticipation. Recently, a leaked report claimed the game will retail for $150 which left many frustrated, even if it was only a rumour.
No matter what the game is actually priced at on release, while an increased rate for a standard edition might frustrate gamers, it is still expected to have a record-breaking first few weeks.
Rockstar Redefined Open-World Gaming With GTA 5, What to Expect From GTA 6
Before GTA 5 was released, Rockstar Studios had already shown players how to get open-world gaming right, with 2010’s Red Dead Redemption. The game was masterfully written and also showcased Rockstar’s approach which was vastly different from other attempts at open-world gaming. Every single location in Red Dead Redemption had a purpose and the attention to detail shown immersed players into a perfect depiction of the Wild West.
GTA 5 also had quite an impact on the gaming industry as a whole. The longevity of the game is a testament to Rockstar Studios’ dedication towards creating works of art rather than just regular games.
