Admitted feeling nervous to meet a reputed actor like Wahlberg, for the first time, Holland mentioned misinterpreting a gift from his co-star, which created an awkward situation.

Promoting his live-action video game film Uncharted, with Mark Wahlberg through a virtual interview with Access Hollywood, Tom Holland mentioned about the super awkward situation he faced with Wahlberg. Admitted reading all the wrong signals, after the actor gifted him a massage gun, Holland discussed the incident with his audience.

Tom Holland Discussed His First Meeting With Mark Wahlberg

With no shortage of awkward Hollywood moments in his entire career, Tom Holland added one more to his list when he met Mark Wahlberg for the first time. Recalling being nervous about meeting an actor of his stature, Holland later recalled his first impression of Wahlberg, during an interview with Access Hollywood

Appearing together on the big screen with their live-action video game film Uncharted, Tom Holland thought about his first meeting with Mark Wahlberg, in retrospect. The 27-year-old actor mentioned how he knew nothing about Wahlberg prior to their meeting and was thus feeling quite nervous. However, things went well for the duo and further, they both delivered a phenomenal performance in their movie.

However, while promoting Uncharted, through a virtual interview with Access Hollywood, Tom Holland recounted meeting Mark Wahlberg at his home in Los Angeles and noted how he has been a “huge fan” of the action star’s work. Within a few minutes of conversation exchange following their meeting, Holland claimed to realize “if we got the chance to work together, we’d be fast friends.”

 Discussing how it all went Holland mentioned the gift that Mark Wahlberg presented him. Admitting how he misinterpreted the gift at first sight, the Spider-Man actor then recalled the awkward moment.

Tom Holland Misinterpreted Mark Wahlberg’s Gentlemanly Gestures 

Detailing the incident that took place following their first meet, Tom Holland mentioned, “Mark Wahlberg was kind enough to give me a massage gun after I left his house in L.A. and he drove me back to my hotel”. Adding how he misinterpreted the gift to be a pleasure toy, Holland stated, “I was confused as to what kind of massage gun this was…I thought it was the type of self-pleasure”.

Confused with the type of gift he received from the actor, Holland further misinterpreted Wahlberg’s gentlemanly gestures to be perverted. The 27-year-old confessed, “I thought Mark Wahlberg was driving me back to my house for other reasons other than just being a gentleman”. Feeling embarrassed and laughing throughout the interview, Wahlberg finally spoke out, “I can’t believe, the whole time, you were thinking that”.

 “I didn’t know you — it’s Hollywood, baby. Who knows what’s gonna happen?” Tom Holland reverted.

Clarifying himself, Mark Wahlberg confessed, they had been talking about “working out, fitness and recovery,” which prompted him to gift his co-star, what he considered one of “best massage guns out there”. Further recalling the awkward-in-hindsight car ride, the Transformers actor joked, “Gotta get your head outta the gutter, buddy.” 

Although Mark Wahlberg appeared unimpressed by Tom Holland’s anecdote, his responses came with comedic effect. Eventually, the duo became great friends and starred in the highly-anticipated Sony Pictures adventure, Uncharted
