Recently, Simu Liu has been entangled in some controversy with a Brooklyn-based writer, Ian Kumamoto who claimed that Marvel nowadays are hiring actors of different ethnicity, not due to having diversity in their franchise but because of just doing it. Moreover, he added that Hollywood should welcome more “attractive and talented” Asian actors to the industry rather than making do with the predominant actors. Kumamoto claimed that,

“Getting the bulk of Asian male roles in Hollywood, feel a little less like representation and a lot more like tokenism.”
