George Lucas has solidified his position in the history of cinema by creating two popular franchises, Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Both series have garnered global attention which brought many actors into the limelight. Given that he had quite a major influence in the Star Wars saga which went on to become a highly successful project, not everyone associated with it was in his good books (at least for a short while.)
David Prowse Leaked The Biggest Spoiler of the Original Star Wars Trilogy!
The scene in question is the iconic confrontation between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker with the former revealing “I am your father.”
In a 1978 interview with the San Francisco Examiner, the late actor spilled the beans stating,
“Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker are hooked up in a do-or-die light saber duel when Luke learns that Darth is, in fact, his long-lost father.”
The creator wanted to keep Vader’s relationship with Skywalker a core secret until the movie’s release but thanks to Prowse, it was known to the public way before the movie hit the screens.
George Lucas Refused to Talk to David Prowse After He Repeated His Mistake!
He accidentally slipped the storyline during an interview with a journalist who was interacting with the former to throw light on his weightlifting career. As the interview continued, the flow at some point turned towards Star Wars and the rest is just a spoiler!
However, his actions had severe consequences as he later revealed that he was secluded on the set by everyone after the leak. Things went quite far as the creator refused to speak to the weightlifter even though they were filming which was estimated to go on for about six weeks. However, it was all in the past as Lucas has acknowledged and praised the late actor’s contribution to the franchise.
