And let’s be honest, since that disastrous launch back in 2020, the road to redemption has been long and arduous for the developers. But here we are nearly 3 years later and almost a month away from the launch of the Phantom Liberty expansion, and it may just go to prove that hard work and time can prove to be a healer.

What Cyberpunk info was revealed at Gamescom 2023?

And at Gamescom 2023, CDPR revealed a slick new trailer for the Phantom Liberty expansion, which is due to launch on 26, September. Fans of Cyberpunk 2077 will no doubt have enjoyed what they saw and there was certainly plenty to pick apart from the trailer.

First of all, there’s the new skill tree which offers players the opportunity to create some unique new builds and allows them to master new exciting styles of play. There’s also the new district, ‘Dogtown’, which brings new missions and dynamics. Not only that, but there are numerous new weapons, clothing options, cyberware and more for fans to experience.

But maybe the most exciting reveal from the trailer was the vehicle combat, which looks like it will be pretty kick ass. Players will be able to drive around Night City, shooting from vehicles while driving and the ability to quick-hack enemy vehicles. We’re hoping for something like we saw in the Netflix series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Top that off with the new and improved Police AI and players might just have a new challenge on their hands. The cops will respond in a more “realistic” fashion, setting up roadblocks and using their own vehicles to ram players off the roads. Sounds like a Cyberpunk version of Need for Speed and we are here for it!

Could Gamescom 2023 prove to be the redemption for CD Projekt Red?

Fans who have abandoned Cyberounk 2077 may be enticed back with another announcement, which accompanied this trailer. And that is that with update 2.0, which will launch alongside Phantom Liberty, the majority of new features will be added to the base game FREE OF CHARGE. Yes, you read that correctly. Free of charge.

CDPR no doubt see this as a thank you to the fans who have stuck with them through the many, many bug fixes, and the developers finally have the game at the level they envisioned it. And following this trailer, we envision that a lot of fans may just pick this up again.
