Gamescom 2023 has started off with a bang, showcasing some of the biggest titles of the year in its epic Opening Night Live. One of the main games shown at the event was Killing Floor 3, which was developed by Tripwire Interactive and will land on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Epic Game Store, and Steam. Although there was no information about when gamers can expect to see Killing Floor 3 release in stores, fans were just excited to see a tease of the future.

The gruesome Gamescom 2023 reveal trailer showed off the creation of a mechanical zombie-like specimen in a futuristic lab. It starts with a cell being injected with a syringe and the creature strapped to a table with many wires attached to it. A buzz saw then comes down from the ceiling and slices open the creature’s chest.
The chest is ripped open and a mechanical device is placed in the middle. Drills go through both sides of the head of the creature, and its eyes are replaced with a robot goggles. The zombie is then given new mechanical arms, and released among hundreds of other creatures that look exactly the same as him. There are then quick shots of the creatures attacking the playable character, which hints to a tiny bit of the gameplay.
Players can expect the first person shooter sequel to have tons of zombies and to be even more graphic than the previous titles. The Gamescom 2023 trailer led viewers to the game’s official website, where they can learn more about the upcoming action title.
What Is Killing Floor 3 and Where is Gamescom 2023 Going from Here?
As previously mentioned, Gamescom 2023 showed off the zombie FPS in an exciting and incredibly gory fashion. If you are curious about the story for the game, Tripwire has the following to say:
“Killing Floor 3 is the next installment in the legendary co-op action/horror FPS series. The year is 2091, 70 years after the events in Killing Floor 2, and megacorp Horzine has produced the ultimate army: an obedient horde of bio-engineered monstrosities called Zeds.”
“Now, the only thing standing between these infernal creations and the future of humanity is the rebel rogue group known as Nightfall. This intense first-person shooter puts players in the role of a Nightfall specialist, joining forces with up to five teammates as they battle through a war-ravaged, dystopian future, surviving unrelenting waves of Zeds, unlocking new skills, and building the ultimate arsenal.”
It appears Killing Floor 3 will have the same antagonist as the previous two games in the form of Horzine, the organization responsible for creating these zombies with the intent of taking over the world. Those who love the high octane excitement of the first two titles are sure to have a good time when Tripwire Interactive’s project is eventually released.
As Gamescom 2023 continues to move forward, we can expect some of the biggest news in gaming, for developers around the world.
