Gal Gadot is among the leading names in the entertainment genre and is popular for her role as Wonder Woman. The actress has been part of the industry for more than a decade and has given numerous box office hits like Red Notice, Death on the Nile, Heart of Stone, and Bride of Frankenstein, among others. However, she rose to global fame with her DC production’s comic book hero movie, Wonder Woman.
Gadot made her DCEU debut with Wonder Woman, and Henry Cavill with Man of Steel. But reportedly the actress was paid way less than Cavill for their solo films.
Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill’s pay difference for their solo outings
There are rumors abuzz about the gigantic pay difference between the two DC stars for their standalone films. However, it has been debunked by The Hollywood Reporter, as they shared that the actors were paid the same amount for individual films.
As per the source having knowledge of both actors’ income nominations, they shared that Gadot received the same income upfront if not slightly more on Wonder Woman than Cavill made on Man of Steel.
The salary discrepancy rumors were based on a report by Elle magazine, which posted the salary information which had previously appeared in other publications. They had not acknowledged and differentiated between upfront salary vs. bonuses and performance escalators for the actors.
The news caused quite a stir on social media as Hollywood’s gender gap in wages has become a mainstream issue. As per Elle, Gadot was paid $300,000 for Wonder Woman, while Henry Cavill received $14 million for Man of Steel.
The source called the mentioned figure ridiculous.

The real income of the DC and MCU stars for their standalone films
As previously reported, Cavill earned a $14 million paycheck for his work on Man of Steel. It was not the basic pay of the actor. The amount was due to the massive box office success of the film. The film garnered approximately $668 million globally. The success of the film set the base for Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
For the unversed, Gadot is not the first actor to receive a modest sum for a solo film. Avengers star Chris Evans, who portrays the role of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reportedly earned $300,000 for his film Captain America: The First Avenger. Later he earned $2 million for his work in the Avengers franchise.
Even Thor star Chris Hemsworth reportedly received $200,000 for his first solo as the God of Thunder. The superstar Robert Downey Jr. was at $500,000 for his role in the Iron Man franchise’s first part.
So far, Gal Gadot‘s movie Wonder Woman was a massive hit and garnered more than $573 million at the global level. Hence, the actress reprised the role in her 2020 film Wonder Woman 1984.
Wonder Woman 1984 is available for streaming on Max and can be rented on Apple TV.
