Mark Wahlberg hasn’t always had the best moments in his Hollywood career. Although the actor celebrates his fame from the acclaimed projects under his belt, the 52-year-old also holds a fair share of controversies. Starting from his teenage years, to later in his career, the actor has a record of racist comments, violence, and absurd behavior.
While Mark Wahlberg currently presents himself as a cultured individual after years of violent history, netizens don’t seem to have forgotten his hellish past. Recalling his nightmarish rap sheet, the internet brings back the notorious memories of the 52-year-old during his young age.
Mark Wahlberg’s Racist And Violent Past
Although Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg has worked hard to attain his position in the film industry, he certainly bears a notorious past filled with racist, homophobic, and misogynistic views. Having such negative and narrow perspectives, the actor often projected his views through his abusive attitude.
Before being an acclaimed star in Tinseltown, Mark Wahlberg had a long history of racism and violent crimes that led him to spend days behind bars. Thus, it’s certainly a wild ride to recall Wahlberg’s shady behavior and shocking crimes during his teenage years. But apparently, the actor was known for physically attacking people of color and verbally abusing them with racist slurs.
Often known for attacking black guys, Vietnamese, and other Asians, the actor was once accused of battery where he reportedly kicked another man named Robert D. Crehan so hard that he broke his jaw. According to reports, the apparent squabble began after Crehan allegedly made racist comments about a member of the actor’s entourage.
It seems that while Wahlberg personally made racist remarks, he himself couldn’t accept racism from someone else. Therefore, witnessing such behavior, several news outlets reported the unforgivable assaults committed by the actor and the traumatic experiences he inflicted upon his victims.
Mark Wahlberg’s Alleged Anti-LGBTQ+ Views
After being repeatedly taken to court, in order to settle his crimes, Mark Wahlberg seemingly shifted his abusive behavior from racism to homophobia and misogyny. Blaming his traumatic childhood for his abusive behavior, Wahlberg claimed to project his feelings upon his victims through remarks and violence.
Following his nightmarish rap sheet filled with violent crimes, Mark Wahlberg started making headlines for his anti-LGBTQ+ views, after joining the film industry. Slammed for making homophobic comments and criticized with gay-bashing allegations, the 52-year-old claimed being blacklisted from Hollywood by a fellow actor.
While it’s unclear if Mark Wahlberg actually made any homophobic comments, US Weekly certainly accused him of being less than supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. Reporting how he turned down one of the lead roles in Brokeback Mountain, which portrayed queer romance, the outlet claimed the 2005 movie was finally done by Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger.
“I met with [director] Ang Lee. … I read 15 pages of the script and got a little creeped out. It was very graphic descriptive…It’s just not my deal.” Wahlberg stated later in 2007.
Mark Wahlberg further promoted unrealistic body standards for women and even made shady contract deals that stamped him as a misogynist in Hollywood. It seems the actor has proportionately dipped himself in all sorts of notorious and controversial positions throughout his life.
