Channing Tatum is regarded as one of the most stunning actors and his talent has never failed to surprise the audience. However, one instance with Gina Carano changed his entire perspective towards a genre in one go. He has starred in quite a big range of movies. From action films to comedy and romance, he has never found himself shying away from a genre.
Surprisingly enough, the actor was against one particular genre and even his wife was very unhappy with him for it. Gina Carano had a big hand in turning his vision completely upside down. Although his opinion was not very liked by the fans either about his selectiveness of not finding female-led action films interesting at all.
Gina Carano Changed Channing Tatum’s Mind About Female-Led Action Movies
Channing Tatum was adamant about not liking female-led action movies. Moreover, he wasn’t even a big fan of action as a genre. He used to lean more toward romance movies and steered away from any other genre.
“My wife always hates when I go, ‘I just don’t love female action movies!’ I don’t know why. I just don’t go run to see them. I’ll watch them but I don’t run to go see them. And then I was like, find a girl that can, pardon my French, whoop my a** and I will go to the movies to watch it.”
He could not understand what such movies really held and did not find joy in them. He claimed that even if he would to watch these movies, he would never truly enjoy them or even put effort into being attentive toward them. It wasn’t until he worked with Gina Carano did his perspective completely change. What it was that he did not like about the movies also related to his dislike for adrenaline-inducing movies with big explosions. However, that all changed thanks to the actress.
Channing Tatum’s Haywire Experience
The movie that managed to change his mind about action films and the actress response to that was Haywire and Gina Carano. He even compared it to a female version of the Bourne Identity. The movie was led by the actress and seeing her perform, it did not take long for the actor to change his mind about action films led by women.
“I play a Blackwater type agent. We get commissioned to go and kidnap this person and everything goes wrong in a way, and Gina Carano who plays the lead character gets set up for it. It’s kind of like a female Bourne Identity.”
It was the first movie he found outside of the romance genre to make him eager enough to watch it himself. He loved the process of filming it and enjoyed how it turned out. Carano’s skill in martial arts can easily mesmerize anyone.
