There are now three new faces in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power cast for Season 2. On Monday, March 20th, Prime Video announced that Ciarán Hinds, Rory Kinnear, and Tanya Moodie had been cast in recurring roles in the series’ new season.

Production on the second season of the British fantasy show based on the works of J. R. R. Tolkien has begun. Actors Kinnear and Moodie are both British, whereas Hinds is Irish.

Season one of The Rings of Power included recurring appearances by 23 actors who played various fantasy races, including elves, ents, dwarves, harfoots, orcs, and humans. While details about the actors’ characters remain wrapped, fans are pleased by their casting for their beloved show.

Despite negative reviews, The Rings of Power is Prime Video’s most successful original series, with over 24 billion minutes watched and over 100 million people watching the series. The streaming service announced that the series launch was the most watched in Amazon Video’s history, with over 25 million viewers from across the world. It also topped Nielsen’s overall streaming chart on its first weekend.

The show has also attracted more new Prime members during its launch window throughout the world than any other piece of content in Prime Video’s history. Payne and McKay, the show’s current showrunners and executive producers, are also responsible for Season 2.

Co-executive producers Charlotte Brandstrom, Kate Hazell, and Helen Shang, and co-producers Andrew Lee, Matthew Penry-Davey, and Clare Buxton join Lindsey Weber and Callum Greene as executive producers among many others.
