The second instalment of the Final Fantasy 7 remake project received an official release date and new trailer during PlayStation’s recent State of Play stream. It has also been revealed that the game will feature 100 hours of gameplay content as Game Director Naoki Hamaguchi, Producer Yoshinori Kitase, and Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura all took to the game’s social media pages to pen a post revealing a host of details.
The storyline is said to be filled with major twists and turns, moving at a rapid dramatic pace. Read on to find out what else was revealed about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth which is all set for a February 2024 release.
Yoshinori Kitase Shares Final Fantasy 7 Storyline and Map Update
Yoshinori Kitase penned a letter to all fans of the franchise, revealing that the second title of the remake project will have some familiar elements from the previous games. He mentioned that players will have a vast world map to explore along with the capability to synergize abilities with other party members. Kitase also hinted that while the game will have several twists, they’re aware of one in particular that fans have been waiting to see.
Concluding his letter, Kitase also mentioned that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth can be played by newcomers to the franchise without having to understand the lore of the previous games. He also confirmed a recap being present in the game that helps new gamers understand the story better.

Over 100 Hours of GamePlay Content Promised in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Remake, Director Reveals
Director Naoki Hamaguchi also revealed more game details in his open letter to fans. He mentioned that the new title will see Cloud and his friends flee Midgar on a new untold adventure pursuing Sephiroth across a vast, expansive map. More importantly, Hamaguchi also mentioned there will be around 100 hours of gameplay that players can look forward to.
Hamaguchi concluded by saying the main storyline will be a lot bigger than previously expected, while also giving gamers several fun side activities and monsters to fight as was seen in the release date announcement trailer.

Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura Detailed The Journey in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Finally, Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura detailed that the storyline will cover up to the midpoint of the plot of the original Final Fantasy 7. Nomura went on to say that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will showcase the story of the characters who embark on this journey as well as the journey itself.
Nomura concluded his letter by saying, the same as his colleagues, that the game can be enjoyed by new gamers to the franchise just as much as fans of the previous entries. There is also said to be an increase in the number of characters available to add to your party based on fan feedback received from previous titles.
