Jackie Chan accomplished a nearly impossible feat in his time—transitioning from an Asian actor to a mainstream American star. With successful film franchises like Rush Hour and Shanghai Noon, along with the popular animated series Jackie Chan Adventures capturing the hearts of US kids, The Karate Kid actor fame solidified his name.
Known for his fearless stunts, the legendary actor shared insights into his limitations, revealing that he no longer engages in the daring leaps from buildings or cars, in a 2017 interview with Access Hollywood.
Jackie Chan Revealed His Favorite Chris Of Hollywood
During an interview with Natalie Morales and Kit Hoover from Access Hollywood to promote his 2017 movie The Foreigner, Jackie Chan was asked a few fun questions about Hollywood stars. The Kung Fu Yoga actor was first asked to name his favorite Kardashian, but it became apparent that Chan wasn’t keeping up with the Kardashians. However, his response to the next question was both obvious and humorous.
When asked about his favorite Hollywood Chris, with notable options like Chris Pine, Evans, Hemsworth, Pratt, and Chris Tucker, the Armour of God actor’s choice was clear. Given his collaboration with Tucker, the decision was easy as he shared his enjoyment of working alongside him in Rush Hour. Yet, the Rumble in the Bronx star playfully acknowledged that it wasn’t always smooth sailing with Tucker.
Jackie Chan Describes Filming With Chris Tucker As Terrible
Reflecting on his experience filming Rush Hour with Tucker, Jackie Chan revealed that the stand-up comedian was a bit difficult to work with. Tucker’s rapid-fire Atlanta-style English posed a significant challenge for Chan, who was still learning the language. Furthermore, the Police Story actor revealed that Tucker’s tendency to change his lines between takes often left him struggling to keep up. Chan said:
“No fun… Filming with him terrible. Every scene, every dialogue different. You know… you know my English. Something like ‘um where are you going’ and I say ‘Okay, that’s my turn’. Then second take. Different dialogue. None of them same. Ten takes, ten different dialogues. Chris Tucker, I don’t understand. He just keeps talking.”
Drawing a comparison to his Shanghai Noon co-star Owen Wilson, whose slower English was easier for Chan to comprehend, the Kung Fu Panda voice actor humorously complains about Tucker’s talkative nature. Despite these challenges, the 69-year-old actor expressed anticipation for the next Rush Hour movie. Interestingly, Rush Hour 4 is currently in production and set for a 2025 release.
When asked to select a Hollywood actor he would like to work with, Jackie Chan singled out Jodie Foster. The Drunken Master actor lauded Foster for her contributions as both an actress and a director and expressed his keen interest in working for her.
