It is quite a common phenomenon in the film industry for actors to have to pass on projects because they already are working on something else. The biggest of actors have missed out on the biggest of movies due to this. Could Bullock be no different in this, having potentially let go of a movie starring Hilary Swank that could have won her a second Oscar?

Sandra Bullock’s History With Clint Eastwood’s Million Dollar Baby

Clint Eastwood’s Million Dollar Baby, starring Hilary Swank as an aspiring boxer named Maggie. The movie received immense critical acclaim, having been nominated for seven Acadamy Awards in several categories and won four. What is quite interesting to find out is the fact that Sandra Bullock had been trying to get this exact movie made several times.

“We had Million Dollar Baby with someone else for a while, trying to get it made. I couldn’t get it made. We tried and tried and tried.” Bullock said, “[They were like] ‘Female boxing movies don’t sell’. I was like, ‘This is the most incredible piece.’ I then started doing Miss Congeniality 2, and they got Hilary [Swank] and they got Clint.”

Bullock addressed this after rumors were going around that she had turned down Swank’s role in the film. The actress revealed that she had been trying to get Million Dollar Baby made, however, this was before Eastwood was involved in the project. She added that the reason this version kept getting shot down, was being those in charge believed that nobody wanted to see a movie about female boxers. This, however, changed when Eastwood and Swank got involved in the project.

Sandra Bullock Holds No Hard Feelings Towards Clint Eastwood And Hilary Swank

It would seem that despite the fact that Sandra Bullock worked extremely hard to create Million Dollar Baby, only to not be part of it in any way whatsoever, she does not seem to have any hard feelings towards Clint Eastwood, Hilary Swank, or anyone who was part of the project.

“When things like that happen, that’s the way they’re supposed to be.” she said

The actress added that this was how the film industry worked and there was nothing she could do about it, adding that she also hold absolutely so resentment about the fact that Swank won an Acadamy Award in the category of Best Lead Actress, saying that things happen in the way that they are supposed to, so there is no point in dwelling on it.
