Fans Agree With Marvel's Original Decision to Make Jonathan Majors the Next Big Bad after He Stunned Viewers in Loki

Jonathan Majors is one of the prominent actors in the entertainment industry, who rose to fame with movies like Creed 3 and Devotion. However, the actor received international-level fame with the role of Kang the Conqueror in the MCU. His first Marvel project was the Disney+ series named Loki. The actor impressed the fans and the production house with his work, and now he is set to become the next big villain in Phase 6 of Marvel projects.

MCU’s Phase 6 initially did not focus on Jonathan Majors’ role until Loki

As per the reports, Majors’ role as the next prime villain was not always the plan. However, certain events lead to the changes which included Kang playing a key role in Phases 5 and 6 of MCU projects.

Jonathan Majors played the role of Kang for the first time in the series Loki and was highly appreciated for it. The actor, for now, is set to reprise his role in season two of the series.

MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios book author Joanna Robinson shared at The Ringer’s The Big Picture podcast that Kang will be a core part of the latter phase of the Multiverse Saga. She said,

“I was told by someone who works for Marvel, it was not the plan to make Kang the center of everything until they saw the dailies from ‘Quantumania’ and after his performance in ‘Loki,’ which was so strong they were like, ‘This is it. This is our way forward. We’ve lost our varsity hero team, but let’s set up around this guy Kang and this performer that so many people are reacting to.'”

The writer further added that Marvel has never focussed on one particular character for a franchise in the past. She said,

“I would argue they have never hung so much of a franchise on one actor, as they tried to hang it on Jonathan Majors after his ‘Loki’’performance and his ‘Ant-Man: Quantumania’ performance.”

The actor would appear in the series Loki season 2 and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
