As Fast X is all set to pave its way to the theaters with the massive truckload of characters, many new updates about the action flick come out. If the latest updates are to be believed then the director Louis Leterrier originally rejected the tenth film in the franchise before changing his decision. As the director was recently spotted in an interview during the trailer premiere, he revealed that initially, he was reluctant to nod his head in positive for the movie.
Interestingly, Louis Leterrier was not chosen at first as the captain of the ship. It was Justin Lin. But even after filming some portions of the movie, he left Fast X due to creative differences. As a result of this, The Incredible Hulk director was roped in and was also asked to rewrite some parts of the movie.
Why was Louis Leterrier reluctant to direct Fast X?
As it can be already seen in the trailer, the penultimate film in The Fast and the Furious franchise is all prepped up to wrap up the long-running action saga. While many fans might argue that the movies in the latter part of the franchise have been too over the top but it can’t be denied it is one of the most noteworthy parts of modern pop culture.
While the franchise plans to show a grand ending featuring a huge set of stars, it was one of the main reasons why Leterrier was reluctant to direct Fast X. For him, it was too big as well as messy.
“Well, the studio calls me and I think it’s a pocket call. I think it’s a misdial and I tell them, ‘I think you made a mistake.’ I didn’t know. I didn’t know anything that was happening. And they said, ‘Can you call us back. Can you call us back right now. Can you read this script?’ Wait. ‘What’s the script?’ It’s Fast X. My heart stops. And I say no. I can’t. It’s too big. It’s too messy.”
But soon the director changed his mind after finding that the script was too good to let go that way. Although he liked the script, he claimed that he had some other great ideas that forced him to sacrifice his sleep. He was on a flight to the set and he had to rethink everything during the journey. Now with a huge star-studded cast and a whole lot of events going on, Fast X will have to deliver a lot to impress the fans.
What do we know about Fast X?
Serving as the eleventh film in the franchise, Fast X will lead to the conclusion of the long-running franchise. One of the main highlights of this movie will be its electrifying star cast that boasts of names like Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Charlize Theron, John Cena, and many others along with veterans Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, and Michelle Rodriguez. Serving as the cherry on top, even Gal Gadot is returning to her role of Gisele Yashar.
Despite the news of Gadot’s return even after the death of her character raised some backlash, the fans are quite excited to watch how everything is pulled off. The story of Fast X will be connected to the events of Fast Five as the Aquaman fame will portray the role of Dante, the son of the Late kingpin Hernan Reyes who will try to seek revenge for the death of his father.
Fast X will hit theaters on May 19, 2023.
