In a past interview, the X-Men: Days Of Future Past star was talking about how his life in retrospect from the days he was a coach at a school to his come up as a major Hollywood star in the industry. Here, he also talked about the time he was accepted to play the role of Jean Valjean in the then-upcoming film Les Miserables. Since the film was going to be a musical, he was a little uncomfortable while performing, and to find some wisdom, he sought the help of his friend and life guru Tony Robbins. He said:

“I said: ‘I want some help. I got this job, and sometimes in front of the camera I can’t feel as relaxed as onstage’. He said it’s not about denying the character within you who feels nervous. That fear serves you to work hard. It’s not about going, ‘F— you, I wish you weren’t here, get out.’ It’s about embracing that. He goes: ‘Man, you’re playing Jean Valjean. You should be scared!’ “

Therefore, taking heed of his wise words, Jackman pushed himself to the limits of his role, even going so far as to have no water until the shoot for the day was over, which gave him the exasperated and torn-down look he became famous for in the film.
