In 2018, when the on-screen eccentric talent was interviewed for a movie feature by The Hollywood Reporter, they revealed to the world certain truths about their life that may have had troublesome implications for their psyche. It would be a lie to say that their statements did not raise a waft of concern among readers of that time, especially the remarks directed at an, albeit unnamed, renowned and prominent Hollywood executive.

Additionally, as best described by THR, the “counterculture indie icon,” also distinctly pointed out their stance on identifying as a queer superstar.

Ezra Miller “barely identifies” as a human

It is no secret that Ezra Miller has been particularly notable for their clear-cut stance on identifying as non-binary and queer. The fierce statement, which particularly sent the world into a frenzy, was when they proclaimed that they barely found themselves identifying as a human. When asked about their identity in the 2018 feature story, The Perks of Being a Wallflower star enunciated the following:

“Yeah, absolutely. Which is to say, I don’t identify. Like, fuck that. Queer just means no, I don’t do that. I don’t identify as a man. I don’t identify as a woman. I barely identify as a human.”

In various interviews, Miller has further elaborated upon their physical androgyny and their respect and admiration towards the artistic medium of make-up, which can be representative of one’s essence and soul. Therefore, such claims can allude that the face of The Flash film has a coherent and uncomplicated approach towards their identity.

Ezra Miller’s Harrowing Experience With Hollywood Executives

While reminiscing about their pleasant work experience with Scottish film director, Lynne Ramsay, the star noted that they were particularly enraged after the events that occurred during the production of 2015’s Jane Got A Gun, where the esteemed director was unfortunately fired. Miller voiced their disapproval of this by saying the following:

“Powerful men, they don’t know how bad they want to submit to a woman, a feminine power, but they should.”

In line with such powerful sentiments, they went on to talk about their own experiences that fell under the spectrum of the #MeToo movement. The talent recalls an encounter they had with an unnamed director and producer, who offered Miller some wine when they were underage and urged them to be a part of a movie revolving around the “gay revolution.” Ezra Miller states that they expressed their disdain by calling the renowned Hollywood figures “monsters.”

The actor then went on to voice support for the movement that aimed at unearthing and shedding light on such harrowing matters that plague almost all industries. Miller was of a particularly strong opinion, stating that the entirety of Hollywood is treated as “s-x workers.”

The following was their affirmation on the concerned subject:

“It’s a great fuckin’ age of being like, ‘You know what? That shit’s unacceptable,’ And it’s amazing for a lot of us to watch. ‘Cause, like, we all knew it was unacceptable when we fucking survived it. That’s what Hollywood is. I thought we all knew we were s-x workers.”

Such bold statements, in the present climate, and especially after the slew of concerning grooming allegations that follows the concerned on-screen talent, fall short of sounding empathetic or compassionate.

Regardless, Miller seems to be gearing up for the slated release of their upcoming film, The Flash, which is scheduled for a 16th June 2023 release.
