Over the past year, Elden Ring has earned itself a rather bizarre reputation as many gamers have enjoyed the difficult gameplay and explored the daunting world that is put before them, but a few players have decided they want to create some funny moments, especially when it comes to Player VS Player activities, and due to this players use a special item to help disguise themselves to avoid detection and tricking the players they are invading.

What is the special item that players are using in Elden Ring, and why is it funny?
Throughout Soulsborne games, PVP is one of the most hated aspects, and this is because in a game where the bosses are already tough enough, having players with the ability to invade your world and ruin your potentially perfect run will annoy most gamers. In Elden Ring, this is still a very common issue as most of the time, players will still invade each other’s world and will begin battling each other, most likely a more hardcore player winning the battle.
This isn’t always the case, however, as not all players of Elden Ring are as heartless as the hardcore players as some use PVP to create some highly hilarious moments by using what is known as the Mimic Veil to disguise themselves as part of the scenery either to tease the player by hiding in plain sight to watch them search for the invaded player or to still be mean and wait till the player approaches the hidden invader to which the hidden invader leaps out of their disguise and kills them with a sneak attack.

How badly does this affect players who are deceived by this trick?
Most of the time, it is very dependent on what this can do to a player who is affected by this trick, as most players who are invaded are most likely exploring throughout the game and aren’t aware of the scenery they are surrounded by. This can confuse a lot of players as this could be the first time they are invaded, and they won’t know what to expect as they will be looking for a player who will be fully hidden and could easily kill them with no warning.
Most of the time, when a player dies to an invader, the only thing that they lose is a resource called Souls, but even this resource can be gained back if the player is able to reach the location they died in. This isn’t a big impact, but it can depend on how many souls the player is carrying at the time and if they can even get back to the location they died in especially for newer players, it can be hard to get back to certain locations without dying numerous times.
