The power of nepotism is indeed prevalent in the Hollywood industry for quite a while. From the currently hot topic of “Nepo babies vs Hollywood”, one more celebrity gets added to the list of abusing his powers as the co-head of the DCU.
According to a report, Dwayne Johnson allegedly denied a request for a cameo in Shazam! Fury of the Gods following which, James Gunn’s wife Jennifer Holland was put in as a last-minute addition. As per rumors, The Rock was busy trying to get Henry Cavill in the DCU to spare time for a cameo for Shazam 2!
Dwayne Johnson’s Obsession Over Henry Cavill
Before there was Gal Gadot, rumors of Dwayne Johnson appearing in Shazam! Fury of the Gods was spread heavily on the Internet. The director of the movie, David F. Sandberg wanted Johnson’s cameo desperately in the movie. This move turned out to be a worthless one since the Jumanji actor was too busy to spare a moment in trying to rope in Henry Cavill in the DCU.
Due to Johnson’s absence from the movie, Sandberg quickly replaced the cameo by bringing James Gunn’s wife Jennifer Holland. According to a report, The Rock was busy trying to bring in Henry Cavill in his movie Black Adam. In a report by The Wrap, it was confirmed that Johnson was originally asked for a cameo but he denied the opportunity.
After all that had been done, there were rumors that Dwayne Johnson may yet have a chance to reappear as Black Adam in the upcoming DCU movies however it did not come to pass due to Johnson’s association with James Gunn and the rest of the DC Studios.
Why Did Dwayne Johnson Refuse The Black Adam Cameo?
After James Gunn released the new lineup of the DCU projects and series, fans were quick to notice an absence of the character of Black Adam from the midst. The actor took to his Twitter to issue a public statement that announced the departure of Black Adam from the DCU.
In his tweet, the actor mentioned meeting James Gunn and finalizing that Black Adam will not be a part of the first chapter of the DCU.
Although it wasn’t confirmed, the people blamed the decision on Johnson’s relationship with other members of the DC Studios. This could possibly be one of the reasons the actor refused a cameo in David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
With a rating of 53% on Rotten Tomatoes, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently screening in theaters for the world to watch.
