Among the big action franchises in Hollywood, The Fast and The Furious has held its place as one of the favorites among hardcore action fans. The film series has entered its 10th installment with Fast X due to release this year. The films also saw many huge action stars featured in the different installments namely Dwayne Johnson, John Cena, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, and Helen Mirren.

The popularity of the movies also gave rise to a spin-off in 2019, with the buddy action comedy The Fast and The Furious: Hobbs and Shaw. The film had a stellar star cast of Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby, and Helen Mirren. In the film, the unlikely pairing of Johnson and Statham joins Vanessa Kirby to take down a cybernetically enhanced terrorist played by Elba who is threatening the world with a deadly virus. While the movie was appreciated by a cross-section of fans, the more significant statistic involved the money that the stars made from this film.

Dwayne Johnson Earned The Biggest Payday For Hobbs and Shaw

The Fast and The Furious spin-off comedy witnessed a plethora of big stars sharing screen space and having a blast with action and comedy. But It was Dwayne Johnson who went laughing all the way to the bank at the end of the film. According to reports, The Rock was paid a whopping 20 million dollars to appear in the film The Fast and The Furious: Hobbs and Shaw. In contrast, Jason Statham and Idris Elba who were also part of the movie and bonafide stars in their own right earned 13 million and 8 million respectively.

The staggering amount offered to Johnson was still not the highest that a star earned for the year 2019. According to Variety’s roundup of salaries, Ryan Reynolds whose Netflix film 6 Underground was released the same year, made 27 million dollars in the film.

Thanks to the mammoth payday in DC’s Black Adam and Red Notice, the action star’s net worth catapulted to 800 million dollars for the year. Johnson has also cashed in as a brand ambassador for companies like Ford along with making big bucks in the wrestling arena.

In an interview with CNN, the actor stated that his goal for the year was to make the beverage and liquor  “a truly international brand”.
